OVERVIEW
Beach.8081 is one of the environment of island.8081 project.
www.8081.com implements, using the technologies of the net, the island 80/81 project. The island is the perfect environment for 80/81, that incorporates different wide scenarios ( beach, forest, Mediterranean patch, mountains, valleys, etc…) representative of the identity of 80/81, in which the diversity of the scenarios is unified by a digital ecosystem, the utopia of Limanora, the Island of Progress described by Godfrey Sweven.
Working on concepts as environment and extreme involvement brings to consider more important the role of the user, integrated in the 80/81 environment, than the contents of the sites. The internet spectatorship shift from an info-finding navigation to an emotional experience.
Island.8081 is an open project in parallel evolution with the technologies of the net, with an increasing innovation as well as with the new technologies and on the new modalities of interaction with the spectator. The plunge alike involvement that it intends to create isn't always descriptive, but rather representative and evocative.
www.8081.com is not only a poetic island, but also an outlook on the reflexions of art and webtecnologies, to look for new audiovisual languages for extended media.
IDEA
Beach.8081 is the environment of the island dedicated to the music.
Every place of the island has his own features, in terms of navigation, interaction, use of database narratives, in the Beach the user can listen and share music.
Once the user entered this environment he can explore it, as usual inside the island.80181 and then if he wants to partecipate he can upload one of his tracks into the jukebox.8081.
The main features of this environment are two, both inspired by the classic elements fote the creation of music: a tool and distribution channel:

- jukebox.8081
Instrument.8081 an digital interface that will enable user to play music and record his own tracks, using the sound and the dynamic of the instrument.
jukebox.8081 is a jukebox where users can listen to the music created with the instrumet.8081 and to the music proposed by the beach.8081 committe. then if any user interested in presenting his music can present it to the committe that will stage it into the jukebox. There will be also a chart with the possibility to vote the preferit music.
Beach.8081 is the musical distribution platform of the Island, it's a sinestetic interface where music and visuals plunge together to create an interactive object with which user can enjoy
We want to build a platform where user can experience music in the web rather than listening to or navigating into a 3D environment.
The web it’s full of places where you can share and listen music, but Beach.8081 it’s integrated into the island and the experience it’s a lot more rather than just listen music.
Beach.8081 I’ts about the story of the born of a "new electric sense”.
TECHNOLOGIES
Beach.8081 is a Flash Application based on Flash MX server, that will merge the graphical possibilities of this tool to his database features.

At the end of 1999, 80/81 starts to work at the Island.8081 project (www.8081.com), free project, the duration of which is estimated around two years.
With Island.8081 the network of relations and collaborations is increasing enormously, thanks to a great visibility ( 140000 visits since february 2000 to february 2001).
